Hodgson AI Radio.
Find your next station.
A free public internet radio app that puts station discovery, favorites, and playback in one browser-based experience.
From a directory to a listening experience
Hodgson AI created Hodgson AI Radio to bring the practical parts of internet-radio listening together: finding a station, narrowing the choices, saving a favorite, and controlling playback. The app runs in a web browser and is available at Hodgson.ai/radio.
The station browser sits alongside the current-station display and an audio player. Listeners can explore the directory while keeping playback controls available, instead of moving between a separate search page and player.
Several ways to discover a station
Search provides a direct route when a listener has something in mind. Genre choices offer a starting point for exploration, with options including jazz, classical, ambient, electronic, reggae, and news. Public, college, and HBCU categories add other ways into the directory.
Country and bitrate filters help narrow the selection. Grid and list views let visitors choose how to scan the results, while station entries show identifying details and links to the stations’ own websites.
A “Surprise me” control offers another route when the listener simply wants to try something. The interface gives room for both an intentional search and a less planned discovery.
The everyday controls
- Search and browse: find stations by search or start with a category.
- Refine the results: filter by country or bitrate and switch between grid and list views.
- Keep favorites: use the save control and return to the Favorites view.
- Control playback: play or pause the current station and adjust volume from the player.
The visible station information gives listeners context before they choose. Favorites make it possible to build a smaller selection within the broader directory. Together, these features turn a collection of streams into a tool people can navigate.
A practical example of a custom web app
This project demonstrates the kind of work that sits beyond a conventional brochure website: searchable information, changing results, saved selections, and a player that responds to user actions. Those capabilities serve a single, understandable activity—finding something to listen to.
The same approach applies to other useful tools: start with what a person needs to do, identify the information and controls that support it, and shape the interface around that task.
